An away day at Lord Leycester Hospital!

Last month, several members of the Messenger team headed to Lord Leycester Hospital to deliver a series of traditional workshops for Donald Insall Associates away day. There's only one rule for their away days - the venue has to be one of their current or past projects, and fortunately LLH was the chosen one!

A fantastic transformation of the Thomas Messenger Glasshouse in the Holkham Walled Gardens. Completed in two phases with bespoke made ironmongery to match the original designs and a new bell for the tower cast with the Holkham Emblem by John Taylor & Co of Loughborough.

The 15th century Magazine Gateway sits as a dramatic landmark entrance to the De Montfort’s University’s campus. Our conservation team have recently completed a six-month project to carry out much-needed repairs and restoration work at one of Leicester’s finest medieval buildings.

Plymouth’s Elizabethan House featured in SPAB Magazine

The Elizabethan House was built just before 1600, home to merchants and businessmen who wanted to work and sleep by the bustling harbour. Many years later, vital structural and strengthening works were carried out as part of Plymouth’s Mayflower 400 commemorations. 

SPAB Scholars visit to Messenger

The SPAB scholarship is an advanced training programme for architects, engineers and surveyors in building conservation. Travelling around the country for nine months, the scholars are exposed to a wide variety of projects, conservation issues, philosophies and crafts.

The Cardinal’s Library!

The Oratory, located in the Edgbaston area of Birmingham, was founded in 1849 by St John Henry Newman. Messenger was contracted in late 2020 to undertake extensive repairs to the lantern on the roof of the Cardinal’s Library.
