Main Contracting

We specialise in high quality conservation, construction, repair and renovation projects. The Messenger team has an incredibly broad range of experience, having worked upon Grade I listed buildings, ancient monuments, stately homes, Churches and Cathedrals, as well as new build, ‘one-off’ large town and country houses. 

Past and present clients include, the National Trust, Historic England, Natural England, The Church, Conservation Trusts, members of The Historic Houses Association, Peers of the Realm and Royalty.

Overview

Acting as main contractor we have been fortunate enough to work on some of the country’s most important and unique buildings.

Projects typically include major repair and restoration works to churches and cathedrals, listed or protected buildings, alongside unique new constructions within historic environments. These multi-million pound projects form the backbone of our business and provide an excellent training ground for our apprentices and trainee managers.

We enjoy the unusual and welcome the opportunity of involvement at an early stage, where collaborative working can help to ensure the successful management of the most challenging project.

In our role as managing contractor we offer a specialist project management service for major insurance companies and clients with challenging construction projects. 

Our Chartered surveyors, ICON accredited conservation team and experienced project managers particularly understand the challenges of restoring listed buildings and protected structures.

Facade retention scheme and steel frame, within a Grade II listed building. The finished structure provides self contained accommodation for 250 students.
