Royal Recognition for Leicester Cathedral Project

Published: 22nd October 2025

Last month our Managing Director, Paul Gibbons, had the privilege of meeting His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh. Prince Edward paid a Royal visit to Leicester Cathedral to view both the restoration works to the Cathedral, as well as the completed Heritage and Learning Centre.

Central to his visit was meeting the construction and design teams behind the project, which included Paul. This was the Duke’s second visit to the site, with his previous tour taking place in 2023 when he saw the works in progress. It’s always a proud moment when we get to share our hard work, especially with such prestigious visitors.

The project saw Messenger deliver refurbishments throughout the Cathedral, as well as creating the new learning centre. With a number of archaeological finds made along the way, it was a fascinating project to be shared with the Duke and gave a real insight into the local history and the importance of Leicester over time.
