Messenger wins contract to convert convent9th October 2017
Messenger is shortly to begin work to convert a listed former convent in Hertfordshire into a one off dwelling, as well as building 20 retirement homes in its grounds.
The former St Mary’s Dominican Convent is located at Boxmoor near to Hemel Hempstead. Messenger will begin enabling works on the development later this month and expects everything to be finished at the end of autumn 2018.
The former religious site is being redeveloped by Ash Mill Developments which worked closely with Messenger on the much-publicised renovation of Northgate Street in Warwick.
Messenger will shortly demolish a two storey accommodation block and ancillary attached buildings attached to the original Georgian property. Ultimately this will be completely refurbished and converted into a substantial 6 bed family home, complete with double garage.
The new build part of the development comprises 16 two and three bedroom retirement homes and 4 two bedroom retirement apartments, as well as allocated garage blocks and a communal facility.
Commenting on the new contract, Paul Gibbons Messenger MD said: “It is a pleasure to be working once again with Ash Mill Developments. We are looking forward to turning this listed and disused convent into a unique family home, whilst also creating the neighbouring vibrant and modern retirement community.”
Wayne Lester is the Messenger Contracts Manager.
