Holkham Hall Central Fountain


Holkham Hall is an 18th century country house, constructed in the Palladian style. The property was originally built for Thomas Coke, the 1st Earl of Leicester. The now 8th Earl of Leicester, Thomas Edward Coke resides at Holkham Hall and has a continued interest in the property and all project works.

Brief Description of Works: 

Messenger was awarded the contract to carry out repairs to the Grade II listed central fountain within the hall grounds. The fountain built circa 1850, depicts Perseus rescuing Andromeda from a sea monster. Sensitive repairs were undertaken to the main central statue and plinths as well as perimeter statues. The works form part of a major scheme to restore the fountain to full working order. This contract also included the supply and installation of new stone steps to the estate Model Farmhouse, a Grade II listed property built in 1786 by Samuel Wyatt.
