Dawson of Stamford


Located in Stamford's picturesque Red Lion Square, Dawson of Stamford has been a part of the bustling market town for over thirty years. John Dawson opened the shop in Stamford to sell his jewellery as well as his growing collection of antique furniture, fine art and obscure “objects”.

Brief Description of Works: 

Messenger was awarded the contract for the removal of paintwork and render to the front elevation stonework, cleaning and repointing and the repair and redecoration of the render and lathe to the side elevation. The works also included the raking out and repointing of the rubble stonework to the rear of the parapet wall and multiple repairs to the chimney including replacement of pots and replacement of the flaunching. The cupola was stripped back, repaired and redecorated, with the roof of the cupola being replaced with new leadwork. Lastly, gilding work to the sign and the tops of the decorative columns along with the fixing of a newly commissioned statue finished the project.
